Mission
The mission of the Alliance of Quebec Public Relations Firms (ACRPQ) is to promote the professionalism of public relations companies by establishing standards of quality and a code of conduct to which all ACRPQ members pledge to adhere.
The Alliance seeks to educate the business community and foster awareness of the strategic importance of public relations in their day-to-day business.
The Alliance plans to play a leadership role in securing recognition and respect for the principles of integrity and responsibility in the business and professional practices of public relations firms in Quebec.
The Alliance also aims to be a voice to government and other bodies in all matters regarding public relations consulting in Quebec, to serve and protect the interests of its members.
The Alliance also plans to enhance cooperation with other similar professional bodies worldwide to serve the best interests of its members.
Declaration
The member firms of the ACRPQ pledge to:
- Ensure that public relations is their main sector of activity.
- Promote and maintain the highest standards of quality within their company, both in their professional and business practices.
- Deliver professional services and adhere to the highest standards of accuracy, honesty and integrity, in the interests of both their clients and the general public.
- Preserve, at all times, the strict confidentiality of information obtained as well as the source of that information, except when required to disclose this information or source by an order of a court of law.
- Respect their professional and contractual duties and obligations by avoiding situations that place their company or employees in a conflict of interest or, if the case arises, to reveal the existence or potential existence of a conflict of interest.
- Secure their client's permission before generating benefits (financial or otherwise) from information obtained during an assignment for the said client or resulting from the said client's business activities.
- Refrain from promoting or presenting their professional services using false or misleading information.
- Refrain from intentionally damaging the reputation of competing firms.
- Refrain from deliberately resorting to using information that they know to be false or to misrepresent the facts in an effort to influence the media and benefit their client.
- Assess their overall work methods and services to ensure they conform to the standards of quality and code of conduct adopted by the ACRPQ and its member firms.
